Week 28, Day 4 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Throughout Psalm 119, the author refers to the wicked and treacherous who surround him; his oppressors and adversaries; those who afflict, persecute, and lie about him. In the midst of these discouragements, this psalmist found “hope” (verse 49), “comfort” (verse 50, 52), “life” (verse 50), “songs” (verse 54), “blessing” (verse 56), “favor” (verse 58), grace (verse 58), reason for “praise” (verse 62), and “steadfast love” (verse 54) — ALL in the Lord’s “word” (verse 49, 57), “promise” (verse 50, 58), “law” (verse 51, 53, 55, 61), “rules” (verse 52, 62), “statutes” (verse 54, 64), “precepts” (verse 56, 63), “testimonies” (verse 59), and “commandments” (verse 60); and as “a companion of all who fear you” (verse 63). The lesson is this: “Submit yourselves therefore to God… Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you… Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you” (James 4.7-10).
