Week 28, Day 1 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In 2024 alone, the United Bible Societies reported distributing over 152 million Bible texts (including full Bibles, New Testaments, and digital downloads). An estimated 5-7 billion copies (in all formats) have entered circulation since the invention of the printing press in the 15th century, and no other book in history remotely rivals these numbers. The Bible is the world’s most popular book, at least nominally. The Bible — the law of the LORD; his testimonies, ways, precepts, statutes, commandments, righteous rules, and word (all from Psalm 119.1-2) — is certainly worthy of our attention, appreciation, and admiration; but God intends far more than a place on our shelves, tablets, or smartphones. His Word is to be kept always; it is the path in which we should walk consistently; it is the substance on which we should meditate regularly; it is the message that should be our delight forever. From Psalm 119.11, ask yourself, have you stored up God’s word in your heart (not just your bookshelf), that you might not sin against the Lord?
