Week 47, Day 5 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
As Ezekiel had witnessed the glory of the LORD leaving the temple (Ezekiel 10-11), he now watched “As the glory of the LORD entered the temple by the gate facing east . . . and behold, the glory of the LORD filled the temple” (Ezekiel 43.4-5); but the return of God’s glory came with conditions and responsibilities for Israel. “And the house of Israel shall no more defile my holy name” (verse 7), “so that they may observe all its laws and all its statutes and carry them out. This is the law of the temple: the whole territory on the top of the mountain all around shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the temple” (verses 11-12). Holiness remains today, as it was then, the consummate prerequisite for fellowship with God — collectively, as the church, “God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple” (1 Corinthians 3.17); and individually, as Christians, “your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit…You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6.19-20).
