Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now a minute with the word…
1 Kings 15.13 — “He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother, because she had made a horrid image as an Asherah; and Asa cut down her horrid image and burned it at the brook Kidron.” (NASB)
No doubt, from a personal standpoint, this decision that Asa made could have been a very difficult decision. The emotional connections between family members is strong, generally speaking. However, Asa knew that his mother had done something that the Lord had expressly forbidden and she was guilty of an abomination before God. He didn’t let familial connection stand in his way of making a difficult decision. When we are faced with challenging situations, let us not allow anything to come between us and our relationship with God.
