And now, a minute with the word…

Imagine the “high” the Israelites were on after the conquest of Jericho. They had trusted in the Lord and followed His every command, and He gave them the city like He had promised in a way that had never been seen. It seemed as if everything was going their way. This is when Satan decided to strike, and he was successful this time, getting Achan to covet and take things he was commanded to leave in the city.

This is exactly what Satan still does to us today. When things seem to be going our way and we are on a “spiritual high,” we tend to let our guard down. As soon as we let our guard down, Satan strikes, throwing temptation our way. It is easy to turn to God in times of trial and distress, but we must learn from Achan’s example and keep our guard up at all times - whether good or bad, whether high or low. Satan knows what he is doing, so let’s always stay close to God so we can defeat him.
