Week 7, Day 1 — A minute with the Word

Series: 2024 Bible Reading

And now, a minute with the word…

In giving instructions on the priestly garments, God told Moses: “You are to make a pure gold medallion and engrave it, like the engraving of a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD…It is always to be on his forehead, so that they may find acceptance with the Lord.” (Exodus 28.36-38). This idea of Aaron wearing a medallion with an inscription on it that signified being set apart, consecrated to God so that the people would find acceptance with God is another call to who God’s people should be. I know this might seem repetitive, but God has always called His people to be holy and set apart. It’s a phrase that Peter repeats to Christians in the first century (1 Peter 1.15-16). If I am claiming to be a Christian, am I different from the world around me? If I am not any different from those of the world in this life, why should I expect a different ‘reward’ from those of the world in the next life?
