And now, a minute with the Word…

Sin is deceitful, promising what it cannot provide and stealing the blessings only enjoyed in its absence. As one friend said, “Sin will take you where you don’t want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.” But instead of recognizing its vanity, we are deceived again and again, always thinking, “This time will be different.” It never is, and over time the constant hurt hardens us. We become calloused to the injuries inflicted upon ourselves and others, and calloused to the saving grace of God. The counsel of Hebrews 3 — “Today, if you will hear his voice, Do not harden your hearts…through the deceitfulness of sin,” and “Exhort one another daily.”
