And now, a minute with the Word…

When Jesus’ own fleshly brothers and mother came seeking Him, “He answered them, saying, ‘Who is My mother, or My brothers?’ And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, ‘Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.’” (Mark 3.33-35) Here Jesus teaches a vital lesson, one which will be emphasized again and again in His words — fellowship with the Lord depends upon obedience, doing “the will of God.” Let no one deceive you on this point — Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7.21)
