Mark 2
Series: 2023 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Jesus said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” (Mark 2.17) From the beginning, Jesus’ purpose is clear — He came to save souls. It is reflected in His divinely appointed name, Jesus, which means “savior.” That purpose is obvious in His utter deference to His heavenly Father’s will (saying “I must be about My Father's business,” Luke 2.49). And it is evident in His compassion for those He encountered, “like sheep having no shepherd” (Matthew 9.36). Indeed, “The Lord is . . . not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3.9)
