Week 29, Day 5 — Psalm 119.145-160
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The psalmist clings to God’s Word as life-giving truth. He cries out with his whole heart, “answer me, O Lord! I will keep Your statutes. I call to You; save me, that I may observe Your testimonies.” (verses 145-146) He expresses confidence in God’s Word (verses 147-148). And in verses 151-152, he exclaims “all Your commandments are true… that You have founded them forever.” James wrote “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” (James 5:16) The psalmist continues in verses 153-154 with a plea for deliverance. He expresses love for God’s precepts (verse 159) and that “the sum of Your Word is truth, and every one of Your righteous rules endures forever.” (verse 160) Similarly, Paul penned “all scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
