Week 29, Day 4 — Psalm 119.129-144
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The psalmist delights in God’s testimonies, calling them “wonderful” (verse 129). He says, God’s Word “gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.” (verse 130) He pleads for God to “keep steady my steps according to Your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me.” (verse 133) And he grieves over people who do not keep God’s law (verse 136). Similarly, Paul expresses sorrow over his kinsmen rejecting God’s ways (Romans 9:2-3). The psalmist proclaims in verse 142, “Your righteousness is righteous forever, and your law is true.” (verse 142) And, “Your testimonies are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may live.” (verse 144) Likewise, Jesus says in Matthew 5:18, “I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.”
