Week 29, Day 3 — Psalm 119.113-128
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In verse 113, the psalmist rejects the double-minded and instead clings to God’s law. He says “uphold me according to Your promise… hold me up, that I may be safe and have regard or Your statutes continually!” (verses 116-117) Acknowledging God’s judgment of the wicked, he stands in awe and reverent fear (verses 118-120). Similarly, the Hebrew writer states “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” The psalmist continues in verse 123, “My eyes long for Your salvation and for the fulfillment of Your righteous promise.” He says “It is time for the Lord to act, for Your law has been broken.” (verse 126) And he esteems God’s commandments above gold and rejects every false way (verses 127-128). Jesus says to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).
