Proverbs 28.13 — “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” (ESV)
This verse brought my attention to the parable of the prodigal son. While he was away in the foreign land his sins were not known to his family. I’m sure they could have assumed how he was living. His life kept getting worse and worse to the point where he was eating the scraps from the pigs. When he finally came to himself and sought the forgiveness of his father, what did he find waiting for him? Mercy! God wants to give us mercy, but we need to have the humility to forsake our sins and confess them to God.
