Week 27, Day 2 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Proverbs 24.29 — “Do not say, I will do to him as he has done to me; I will pay the man back for what he has done.” (ESV)
How often in today’s society do we see this attitude of retribution? People treat others how they have been treated or how they anticipate to be treated. This is not how a child of God should conduct themselves. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told those listening these words:
Matthew 7.12 — “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them…”(ESV)
This is a stark contrast to the attitude of the world in which we find ourselves. We need to treat others with kindness, love, mercy, and grace. Is that not how I want others to treat me? Finally listen to the words given to the Christians in Rome.
Romans 12.19 — “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” (ESV)
