Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
A full quarter (25%) of verses in Proverbs 10-11, including 12 of the 32 verses in chapter 10, address matters of speech. The words of the wise are contrasted with the deceitful, reckless, injurious, slanderous, profuse, wicked, worthless, vile, perverse, destructive, insulting, and untrustworthy words of the foolish. Perhaps the counsel of these verses is best summarized in 10.19 — “When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent;” and again in 17.27, “Whoever restrains his words has knowledge.”
