Week 23, Day 3 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
This is a psalm of thanksgiving and praise to God for His awesome deeds, especially His deliverance and refining of His people. In verses 1-4, the psalmist calls all the earth to praise God. Paul similarly wrote in Philippians 2:10-11 “every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth… and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord”. In verse 6, the psalmist recalls God’s mighty works and deliverance, “He turned the sea to dry land; they passed through the river on foot.” Paul wrote of “Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.” In verses 10-12, God refines His people like silver through trials. Peter wrote “you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith – more precious that gold that perishes though it is tested by fire” (1 Peter 1:6-7). And James wrote “count it all joy… when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”
