Week 23, Day 1 — Psalm 64
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In this psalm of David, he describes the wicked using their tongues like swords and arrows to persecute (verse 3). Similarly, James warns of the destructive power of the tongue (James 3:6-8) and Jesus said “people will give account for every careless word they speak” (Matthew 12:36). The wicked think their schemes are hidden (verse 5) but Jesus said “Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed” (Luke 12:2). God sees and will expose all secret plots. In verses 7-8, God turns the evil back on the wicked. Paul wrote in Romans 12:19, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” David concludes in verse 10, “Let the righteous one rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in Him!” Believers are encouraged to rejoice even in suffering and be glad when His glory is revealed (1 Peter 4:13-14), and Paul penned “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.”
