Week 22, Day 5 — Psalm 63
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Psalm 63 was more than likely written during the time that David was on the run from his son Absalom. In the remote wilderness of Judah, David wrote about he longed to be in the presence of God during such a difficult time.
Psalm 63.5-7 — “My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for you.” (ESV)
I know I have referenced a few hymns recently and I ask that you indulge me one more time. A song that has been on my mind recently is titled “Raise a Hallelujah”. The chorus of the song says “I’m gonna sing in the middle of the storm, louder and louder you’re gonna hear my praises roar…” Is that my attitude when all seems for naught? Is my faith strong enough to orient me to God during the strongest of storms? Let us be determined to praise God through all the storms that we will face. Let us be a people that can’t help but sing God’s praises…just sing!
