Week 22, Day 2 — A minute with the Word

Series: 2025 Bible Reading

And now, a minute with the Word…

Verses 6 and 7 caught my attention. Shechem, the Vale of Succoth, Gilead, Manasseh, Ephraim, and Judah are used both literally and figuratively. Literally in the sense that those were names of specific places in the promised land of Canaan. Figuratively in that they represented God’s people as a whole. God’s people hold a special place with Him…they are His. However, in reference to the lands of Edom, Moab, and Philistia they are relegated to places of subjugation. The imagery highlights that God and His people will be victorious. When it feels like you are suffering defeat after defeat at the hands of those who don’t regard God, remember that He loves His people, and they will be exalted one day.
