Week 20, Day 5 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
This psalm is a reflection on human corruption and denial of God. “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God”” (verse 1). Paul penned in Romans 1:21-22 “For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God… Claiming to be wise, they became fools.” Jesus said, “everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.” (Matthew 7:26) The psalmist continues “there is none who does good… They have all fallen away” (verses 1-3), “Have those who work evil no knowledge…?” (verse 4), and “There they are, great in terror” (verse 5). God’s judgment strikes fear in those who oppose Him. Luke penned “fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to case into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him!” (Luke 12:5) The psalm concludes with a cry for divine deliverance and restoration in verse 6, “Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!”
