Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Asaph presents God as “the Mighty One, God the Lord,” who “speaks and summons the earth” (verse 1) and “calls the heavens… that he may judge His people.” (verse 4) God appears in glory and power, emphasizing that He alone is righteous. Similarly, God is referred to as the “Judge of all” in Hebrews 12:23) In verses 7-13, God rebukes His people for offering sacrifices with wrong motives. “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving… and you shall glorify Me.” (verses 14-15) In John 4:23-24, Jesus states “true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him. God is spirit and those that worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” In verses 16-22, God rebukes the wicked who speak His words but live in contradiction and warns of the coming judgement. In verse 23, He displays a path of salvation to “the one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice”… and “orders his way rightly."
