And now, a minute with the Word…

Psalm 39.4 — O Lord, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am!” (ESV)

Verse 4 is a request of God that we could all take to heart. While God will not tell us what exactly will happen to us on this earth, He has told us how fleeting life itself is.

James 4.14 — “yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” (ESV)

I’m not sure there is anything more fleeting than a morning mist that appears and then is burned off quickly as the sun rises. Since our days are fleeting, let us make the best use of our time (Ephesians 5.16) and serve God with our whole being (Matthew 22.37-40).
