Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
David acknowledges his sin and suffers the consequences, but also expresses hope and trust in God. In verse 4, “For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.” Similarly, Peter wrote of Jesus and the tremendous burden He endured, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24) In verse 20, “Those who render me evil for good accuse me because I follow after good.” Likewise, Peter wrote “If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you… if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.” (1 Peter 4:14, 16)
