Week 17, Day 4 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The psalmist repeatedly advises against envy or worry over the prosperity of the wicked (verses 1, 7 and 8) and waiting patiently for God’s timing. “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!” (verse 7) Similarly, James urged “Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord.” (James 5:7) and in Hebrews 10:36 “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.” The psalmist contrasts the fleeting nature of the wicked with the enduring inheritance of the righteous. In verse 20, “But the wicked will perish; the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the pastures; they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.”
