Week 17, Day 3 — Psalm 36
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The psalmist begins in verse 1, “Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes,“ which is also echoed by Paul in Romans 3:18. The wicked man flatters himself (verse 2), is deceitful (verse 3), and plots evil (verse 4). His actions are characterized by wickedness and a rejection of good. In contrast, the psalmist proclaims the vastness of God's love, extending to the heavens and to the clouds (verse 5). His righteousness is compared to the mountains, and His judgments to the deep sea (verse 6). This emphasizes God's boundless mercy and justice. God is presented as the fountain of life, and the source of light (verse 9). Similarly, “Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”” (John 8:12)
