Week 16, Day 3 — Job 35-36
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Elihu charged Job with wrong — not wrong that preceded and merited his affliction (as Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar had already charged), but wrong in his response toward God in the midst of this affliction. Highlighting the folly of doubting God’s wisdom and prerogative to do as He wills, Elihu reminded Job, “Behold, God is great, and we know him not; the number of his years is unsearchable” (36.26). In the balance of chapter 36 and throughout chapter 37, look at the evidence from nature that Elihu presented to substantiate the greatness of God — “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse” (Romans 1.20).
