Week 15, Day 5 — Job 29-30
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The contrast between chapter 29 and chapter 30, i.e. between Job’s respected social standing before the events of chapters 1-2 and his abject humiliation afterward, underscores the mental and emotional torment he endured — but through it all, Job said, “I cry to [God] for help” (30.20), even when he did not get the answers he so desperately wanted. James wrote, “As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful” (5.10-11).
