Week 14, Day 5 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Injustice, darkness, dishonor, hopelessness, wrath, loneliness, hatred, and bodily decay — these are among Job’s sufferings the he recounts in 19.7-22; but again, these are not enough to shake his ultimate confidence in God. “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another” (19.25-27). Job’s eschatology, i.e. his view of “last things,” may have lacked in some ways, but he understood this — everyone and everything else may fail, but the Lord will not.
