And now, a minute with the Word…

Numbers 7.1 begins, “On the day when Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle,” connecting these events with those in Exodus 40 and Leviticus 8. While perhaps tedious to read with all its details and difficult-to-pronounce names, we must not miss the point. These ancient Israelites understood the privilege of God’s dwelling place (the tabernacle) in their midst, and they responded with reverence and sacrifice. Today, do we understand the greater privilege of being God’s dwelling place, individually as Christians (1 Corinthians 6.19-20) and collectively as the church (1 Corinthians 3.16-17); and do we respond with even greater reverence and greater sacrifice than our spiritual forefathers?
