And now, a minute with the Word…

Jesus said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1.15) God’s Messianic rule and the saving message of Jesus are not, as some mistakenly suppose, happy accidents in human history. Nor are they some fanciful whims of God, some things He just thought up one day when He was sitting around heaven with nothing better to do. No, these are, as the apostle Paul wrote, “the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2.11), brought about “when the fullness of the time had come” (Galatians 4.4), “in due time” (Romans 5.6), and “according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Ephesians 3.11). Our salvation and citizenship in God’s kingdom are what He has always wanted, and He made it all possible with the coming of His Son, Jesus Christ!
