Week 6, Day 1 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The psalmist expresses deep love and devotion to God’s Word, emphasizing the joy and peace found when obeying and meditating on it, even during persecution. The key theme is that God’s Word provides refuge, guidance, and strength when faced with challenges. In verse 162, he compares it to a great treasure, “I rejoice at Your Word like one who finds great spoil.” He shows a strong commitment to truth, “I hate and abhor falsehood, but I love Your Law. Seven times a day I praise You for your righteous rules.” (verses 163-164) The psalmist highlights true peace that comes from obedience to God’s Word, “Great peace have those who love Your Law; nothing can make them stumble. I hope for Your salvation, O Lord, and I do Your commandments.” (verses 165-166) He petitions God, “Give me understanding according to Your word!” (verse 169), “like a lost sheep” (verse 176) seeking the Shepherd’s care, living a life aligned with God’s laws.
